Intention Design :

17 independent storytelling zones to allow random exploration and backtracking without hampering immersion. Short and concise scenes, original and tinged with humor.

The two characters meet at the start of the game. Yali will appear to Nym near the statue, without telling Nym that if he is near her it is because her grandmother is deceased. She will learn that later in the game. The narration will develop the relationship between the two characters. Which will have to get to know each other and to work together. Yali will have the function of guiding Nym towards a greater maturity.

Most of the interactions between characters take place in the HUB.

Feedback on errors and observations :

This game contains almost only original Assets produced by our team and experts, but purchasing Assets online would have saved production time.

As production time was very limited, we were unable to add bosses and mini-bosses. This led us to rethink the design of the levels so as to reuse the different basic enemies in a more original way.

Initially, we planned to make the rebounds add four degrees of power. However, during testing we found that it cluttered the gameplay and preferred to keep only two power levels.

We had thought of making narrative areas where the text would be directly impacted by the success of the different temples, only to realize that the freedom available to the player would mean that they might choose to explore the surroundings before entering a temple. The content of the dialogues then had to be relatively devoid of a precise narrative order and offer generic information unrelated to the success of a temple.

It was important that when arriving at a tutorial area (exploding stones or magnetism puzzle) the player be informed of the need to obtain a power stone giving him access to the mechanics to unlock the section. Players would often explore the Hub before entering Temple 1 or Temple 2 and stumble upon a tutorial that took into account that they had the new mechanic.

We’ve been working hard on level 1 so that it can really serve as an introduction to early enemies and GPIs. Initially, this level was so difficult that it was almost impossible to get to room 5/7. After three hours of playtesting, I still couldn’t do it. We completely redesigned it.

Adding hearts to each level was essential and made the gaming experience more enjoyable for all of our playtesters. The goal of our team was to make the game enjoyable for adults but also accessible for children aged 8 and over.
