Ynys Prydein
French creative writing master. Excerpts from historical novels telling the legend of King Arthur. Creative approach inspired by Welsh legends. Synopsis: Young Artan is invaded by his hometown and loses his whole family. He must become the guardian of his people and seek at all costs to protect them from invaders. Along the way, he meets the powerful Picte warrior princess Gwenwhyfar who will become his wife and general. Ynys Prydein recounts a journey steeped in violence and redemption, where the heroes are faced with many defining ethical choices and see all their construction efforts swallowed up by the savage destruction of the invaders and the personal ambitions of the lords.
Abstract: The Ynys Prydein project consists of several scenes told sometimes by Muir Dunn (Merlin, Myrddin), sometimes by Artan (Arthur), offering a rewriting of the Arthurian cycle and the welsh medieval works according to a historical perspective. The fight against the Anglo-Saxon invader, as well as the fratricide conflicts which tore the Island of Brittany, are at the heart of this narrative. In the essay, we shall approach the question of the construction of the History, the archival gaps and what implie ” writing a historical novel ” on a character such as Arthur. Our subject will be the study of the construction of the History. It is by the experiment that we shall succeed in seizing the subtleties of this writing of transformation.
Blanche of Castile
French Short Story. Synopsis: Blanche of Castile is about to marry the heir to the throne of France, Louis VIII. Among the wedding guests is the famous and powerful Eleanor of Aquitaine who once was queen of the France and now queen of England. Now old, she gives advice to the bride, warning her never to be dominated by men, to always be stronger and more resourceful.
The Breton and the Saxon
French novel excerpts. Synopsis: The same story seen from different points of view. A Breton woman meets a Saxon spy who is preparing to invade her town. She chooses not to denounce him, at her own risk. She will experience the carnage of the invasion of her hometown and will be enslaved in enemy territory. This drama will lead her to further abuse and despair, but she will regain control of her life and regain her freedom.
Elmenda
French excerpt of a video game script. Synopsis: In the world of Elmenda on the mainland of Khalali, Aeria is found under the bridge to Poppy town, her throat cut and with amnesia. Saved by a monk, she manages to return to a normal life and discovers that she has been the victim of psions, mages practicing spirit magic, a forbidden art. Ignoring the reasons for wanting to kill her, she tries everything to regain her memory, without success. She will be recruited by adventurers who have seen her in visions from the god of the Elements, the creator of their world. These adventurers include the Great King’s missing heir, a halfling mage, an elemental water half-dragon mage, a half-orc, and half-elven princes. These heroes will teach Aeria that they must convince the Great King of the importance of building an army to fight against a terrible threat, the invasion of a necromancer lich. Their adventures will lead them to discover a little more about the origins of Aeria, who will prove to be the offspring of a demigod and a powerful psion. They will free a mysterious man trapped in a crystal. The man will come out, half mad and confessing to having been locked up for over a thousand years, during the cataclysmic Great War between the five demigod kings. They will later learn that this man is none other than worst enemy of Khalali, the Demigod of the Spirit Element who is at the origin of this war of power between the demigods. They will learn to trust him and find that his sojourn in the crystal allowed him to put his thoughts in order. The crown prince and Aeria will fall in love and their marriage will allow the kingdoms of Khalali, in addition to allowing the psions to regain their honor. During the wedding, rebellious psions, opposed to the reign of the prince and Aeria, will attempt a coup that will be defeated by the demigod of the Spirit himself. The kingdoms thus reunified and saved from the political plot of the rebel psions, will be able to mount troops capable of destroying the plans of the Necromancer Lich.
Child of the Storm
English video game script. Synopsis: Child of the Storm: The Awakening is a top-down view action/adventure game featuring the young summoner, Nym, accompanied by her elemental guardian, Yali, who grants her a power capable of eliminating her enemies. The keeper takes the form of a bouncing ball that produces an electric explosion. In this initiatory ordeal, together they roam the temples of the elemental guardians of old in search of the stones of power capable of increasing the power of the guardian.
